CURRENT RESEARCH PROJECT:

Hidden Virtuosas:

Immersive concerts and participatory events reveal the work and lives of extraordinary female musicians of Baroque Venice.

Tempesta di Mare - Philadelphia Baroque Orchestra hosted a salon event, a symposium, and a large orchestral concert to reveal music by and for female musicians who trained and performed within Baroque Venice’s Ospedali.

The event challenged understanding of who made music in the past and provided surprising insights about the female performers at the Venetian Ospedali with scholars, performers, and creatives of the Hidden Virtuosas project. The immersive concert featured the North American premiere of Ecce Nunc by Agata Canora della Pietà.
