CURRENT RESEARCH PROJECT:

Hidden Virtuosas:

Immersive concerts and participatory events reveal the work and lives of extraordinary female musicians of Baroque Venice.

Tempesta di Mare - Philadelphia Baroque Orchestra will host a salon event, a symposium, and a large orchestral concert to reveal music by and for female musicians who trained and performed within Baroque Venice’s Ospedali.

Nov. 1: The symposium will challenge your understanding of who made music in the past and provide surprising insights about the female performers at the Venetian Ospedali with scholars, performers, and creatives of the Hidden Virtuosas project.

Nov. 1: Hear music by and for baroque Venice’s extraordinary female musicians and taste some Venetian cicchetti, all while mingling with the musicians, who are portraying women of the past, in a relaxed, party-style atmosphere.

Nov. 7-8: Experience an immersive concert with music by and for the extraordinary female musicians of baroque Venice, including the North American premiere of Ecce Nunc by Agata Canora della Pietà.
